Rock

A seagull mistakes a tiny rock for something edible and spits it out. “What do you think you are?” the seagull angrily demands. “I am a rock,” comes the reply. But the seagull belittles the rock and calls it a pebble or a stone that will surely sink in the water, hit rock bottom, and never find its way back. The seagull looks down on the rock again and again, but rock remains steadfast.

Finally a child spending a sunny day at the beach sees the rock in a completely different light and confirms what the rock has always quietly believed about itself.

What a beautiful story about believing in oneself even if those around you think you are not worthy enough. May we all have the unwavering belief in our capabilities and be the unswerving ‘rock’!
