If you’ve liked “The Rabbit Listened”, here’s another picture book that deals with depression in children. Coen, the protagonist feels blue and withdraws himself from the world by curling up in bed. His parents and his sister try to make him feel better but realise that feelings can’t be rushed and it is okay to feel blue. They waited patiently, for sadness doesn’t last forever. They waited for Coen to eventually feel the warmth of a supportive family and for his feelings to untangle. Don’t miss the author’s note on dealing with children experiencing emotional distress.
