A late post for sure – because Vaisakhi, the New Year of the Punjabi and the Sikh community was celebrated earlier this month – but this book is too good not to share.
“A Vaisakhi to Remember” is a story of longing for the Vaisakhi celebration back home and finally discovering that the spirit of the festival is in forging new friendships and creating shared memories. I love that the book talks of aloo paronthas, sarso ki saag, jalebi, langar and more…
This book is an important “identity” book because very often the Punjabi and the Sikh communities are lumped together with the South Asian diaspora. Read this book in your classroom and create awareness!
