I am completely captivated by this book. Written from the perspective of four students who have failed the language arts standardised test, each chapter presents the voice of a student in a different style. The four students are forced to attend summer school but Sandbox (a game like Minecraft) rules their heart. They are not dumb at all, but they are ‘divergent thinkers’ who just hate reading.

One student tries unsuccessfully to flush her book away in the school toilet. Finally, the students and Ms J (their summer school teacher) strike a deal that if they take turns reading out loud for ten solid minutes, then at the end of the class Ms J will play Sandbox for ten minutes.

I do not yet know what happens next (and I will definitely not read spoilers and reviews), but yes, hooked I am to this book!

Great for Grades 4 and above. This book also has a sequel and the third comes out day after tomorrow!
