This story is set thousands of years ago when Earth was also home to Neanderthals and woolly mammoths.
A little Neanderthal boy’s family settles in a cave. His loving family, much like ours, comprises Mama, Papa, and his siblings. Curiosity gets the better of him, and he begins to explore the beautiful natural world around him. He also encounters ‘big hairies’ (mammoths) and ‘growlers’ (bears). But just across the river, he is stunned to see another creature who looks almost like him - a Homo sapiens! They see something in each other’s eyes, understand without speaking, and part ways with a wave of the hand!

It is a work of art – a balance of poetic language and visual storytelling – and deserves a place in your collection. Do read the author’s note.
