I posted about this book a couple of days ago when I had just started reading it. As I dig deeper, I feel that this book is a must-must-must read for all teenagers and adults.
You don’t have to cross borders of a country to become an ‘immigrant’. When you willingly or unwillingly lose parts of your identity, let go of elements that defined you and recalibrate your life all over again, or when the legitimacy of your very identity is questioned, you become an immigrant even in your own country.
Immigrant stories are not just about refugees, it is not about re-settlement alone – it is also about navigating systemic or societal inequities, it is also about reunions.
