Connor Kissed Me

Connor kisses his friend Miriam at school. Miriam is taken aback and does not know how to react to an unprovoked kiss. Utterly confused, she tells a number of people about it, all of whom react differently. Her friend Emily says it’s “Ew”, the recess monitor advises her to play somewhere else, the teacher suggests changing her seat while the bus driver thinks it is puppy love!

Back home, Miriam’s mother asks the most important question of all, “𝘋𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘵𝘰?” which evokes an emphatic “No!” from Miriam. Her mother suggests that in that case, Connor needs to be told and finally Miriam finds the voice to speak to Connor that he cannot kiss her unless he asks first.

“𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲” deals with important issues of personal boundaries, bodily autonomy, and consent – concepts that need to be inculcated right from childhood. Book releases on 19 September 2023.
