I have had poor eyesight from sixth grade but kept it a secret right upto eighth grade; so the connection with “𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀” was instantaneous!

This is Rex Ogle’s memoir in the format of a graphic novel. Sixth grade is challenging for Rex – with no growth spurt, changes in friendships, a blurry vision, financial issues, and different family dynamics, middle school is indeed hard. He is bullied at school for wearing nerdy glasses, for his financial situation and he ends up with no friends, until a new friend Scott starts sitting with Rex at lunch. With help from abuela and a nudge from Scott, Rex eventually gets a new perspective and his take on life gets clearer.

Readers would recall that Rex Ogle’s “𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘓𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩” is also his memoir. But “𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘓𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩” was darker and it was an emotionally difficult read. In contrast, I love the tone of “𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀” told with a degree of humour. A perfect read for Grades 4 and above.
