It’s time to add Melissa Stewart’s “𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘉𝘢𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘉𝘶𝘳𝘱! 𝘈 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘯-𝘈𝘵𝘰𝘮’𝘴 𝘕𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳-𝘌𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘠𝘰𝘶” to your pre-order cart. As the title suggests, this picture-book from the non-fiction-powerhouse focuses on the journey of a carbon atom. With Marta’s engaging illustrations, this is a great book to teach children about atoms, science, and chemistry.

I LOVED how Melissa tells us the backstory on the inspiration for this book and the creative journey. My respect for her increases manifold at how she has acknowledged a presentation from Candace Fleming that shaped the final sequence and “collapsing time.”
