How To Hatch

The story follows a gosling as it works its way out of its shell, speaking to it in a calm and encouraging way. It talks about how tight the space is and gently guides the gosling to breathe, tap, and rest whenever it needs to. Along the side, there are simple notes explaining what is really happening inside the shell as it changes from a safe space to one that feels too small.
Each double-page spread is filled with big, eye-catching illustrations showing the gosling struggling, stretching, and trying to find its balance. In the end, it finally breaks free and joins its soft yellow siblings, following their mother together.
This is a rare blend of narrative non-fiction and a “how-to” guide. Grades 1 and above will love everything about it!
