Oh, the world needs this book! “𝗜 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲” is about a young girl from America whose father is from India and her mother is from Germany. When it is Multicultural Day at school, she finds herself at the crossroads of cultures and intersectionality of identities. What will she make or bake that tells the story of who she is – an American or an Indian or a German? After much thought over a dessert of ras malai, strudel and ice cream, she realizes that she does not have to choose just one, and she can indeed be all three!

Many students in our classroom (and a number of adults) will identify themselves with this dilemma. Sometimes the answer to the question, “Where are you from?” or “Which culture do you belong to?” is not easy to answer – this picture book is a perfect reminder that we do not have to choose one culture over the other, one place of original over another – all our cultures, traditions, languages, and beliefs make us who we are.
