Just finished reading “J.D. and the Great Barber Battle” by J. Dillard – the first of the three books of the J.D. series.
An entertaining read for 7 – 10 year-olds, the story is about a boy whose mother has given him the worst home-haircut. Instead of letting classmates continue to make fun of him, J.D. takes matters in his own hands and cuts his own hair. Other kids love the new haircut so much that J.D. soon finds himself making decent money cutting kids’ hair in his bedroom, much to the chagrin in the local hairstylist. What follows is a “barber battle” between J.D. and the professional barber – an engaging read, with just the right mix of humour, excitement and fun!
Recommended for kids who are comfortable with reading chapter books.
