Dogs are a tremendous force in easing children’s anxiety and who could have better brought forth this message other than Lauren Castillo!

A young girl and her mother move into an apartment in a new city. The girl prefers to be on her own rather that make new friends. Her mother’s efforts are fruitless as social introductions lead the girl into hiding behind her mother’s legs or shedding a few tears. One day mother takes her to the animal shelter and they bring back Millie, a friendly rescue dog. With Millie by her side, soon the girl overcomes her social anxiety and discovers that it is not that difficult to make new friends!

“𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲” is inspired by Peanut and Keiko (Lauren’s late dogs) (read Lauren’s cover reveal interview by John Schu @mrschureads). The illustrations created with ink, watercolour and soft pastels with a technique similar to the one in “This is a Story” are just gorgeous and they pop out of the screen – I can’t wait to hold the hard copy when it releases in April 2024. Fans of Lauren Castillo, this book is a must-add to your pre-order list – I just can’t wait!
