Layla's Happiness

There’s just too much negativity in the news around us right now. Let us also focus, for our own sanity, on what makes us happy. The award winning “Layla’s Happiness” is a perfect reminder to also look at beauty and happiness in seemingly insignificant moments.

Layla is a seven-year-old, and her name means “night beauty”, and of course she loves the night. She loves the dark sky that reminds her of dark, purple plums. She finds happiness in climbing a tree, wearing purple, eating spaghetti without a fork, dancing with a ladybug on her finger, showing her mom flowers in her kaleidoscope or just watching others laugh after they dance salsa!

This book nudges me to introspect about moments that make me happy – a cup of coffee, a stack of books, lazing around in summer, a walk before sunrise… What is happiness to you?
