𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗳𝘀 – 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲

This is a wonderful novel-in-verse that deals with the Rohingya refugee crisis. Samira’s journey from Burma to Bangladesh by river and her life at Cox’s Bazar at Chittagong Division of Bangladesh, is a must-read for children in South/South-East Asia because this is set literally in our backyard. For students in other parts of the world, this book is an important window to the world. What sets it apart is that unlike many refugee stories, this isn’t one where the US is the ultimate destination.

My favourite lines:

𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴
