Some books come at just the right time. “𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮𝘆” by Amanda Gorman and Christian Robinson, hits the bull’s eye in addressing the turmoil that the world is going through right now. Though it most definitely could not have been written with the violence in Gaza in mind (the book was published in September 2023), but every word and sentence of the book is a heart-to-heart talk on how the world tells you that it is not your problem, and that you can’t fix it, and that what is going on is sad, yet you know that even the smallest of things can make a difference, but things do not change if you do not even try and the seed of hope within you whispers that waiting for things to change doesn’t always work, for the world has been waiting too long…
As I re-read this book against the backdrop of violence, it seems like this book is dedicated to all the ordinary people all over the world who have been using their voice for peace; it is a recognition of the effort of the kidlit authors who have been spreading the message of humanity relentlessly…
A must-read in every classroom and home!
