The author of “𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘰𝘯” has yet another heart-warming story “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱” – this time, an intergenerational narrative about a stand in the farmer’s market. A little boy works alongside his Papa in harvesting and setting up a stand in the farmer’s market. They know each customer’s individual needs. But what happens when Papa can’t make it to the stand one day?
A great book about the power of community, about social justice, and the history of black farmers in the US. A perfect mentor text for writer’s workshop, especially for teaching visualization and adding details. I loved the skillful use of colors in the text (“𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘢𝘱𝘢’𝘴 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘶𝘱… 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘴. 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘬𝘺… 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘴”).
Don’t miss the author’s note that explains more about the history and the injustices that black farmers have faced.
