Unexpected Guests

I wish I had read “Unexpected Guests” to the K2s – they would have loved, loved, loved this page-turner, told from the point of view of mice!

Life is peaceful for a large family of mice living beneath the floorboards of a house, until their quiet world is interrupted by the arrival of humans. Having grown up on Uncle Rupert’s wild tales, the mice imagine humans to be giant, fearsome creatures best avoided at all costs.

Still, one adventurous mouse and a handful of curious friends cannot resist finding out what these mysterious beings are really like. Their mission quickly turns into an unexpected treasure hunt as they stumble upon tasty human food and an exciting collection of discoveries, including an iPod, fairy lights, socks, and more. Convinced they are leaving no trace behind, they happily bring their finds back home.

But their confidence proves to be slightly misplaced. The little girl begins to notice… and when the mice return for another visit, she catches them in the act.
