Langston loves basketball but he also loves ballet. Unsure of his choice, he approaches his mother who responds, “You can do whatever you set your mind to doing.” But another boy sows seeds of self-doubt by commenting, “Boys don’t dance like that.” Langston, the only boy in his ballet class, ultimately follows his passion, thanks to his supportive mother and encouraging ballet teacher.
This is a great book to drive home the idea that boys dance ballet too - perfect for pairing with “Boys Dance” by John Robert Allman. Fans of Derrick Barnes’ “Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut” and “I Am Every Good Thing” would also love this book!
