When Love Is More Than Words

In the Asian culture, using the words “I love you” is very much a ‘this-generation’ thing. Our parents hardly ever used the words to show love – for action meant more to them than mere words. Did I ever doubt their love for me? Of course not! Did I ever feel the need for verbal reassurance – never! They showed their love through endless hugs and cuddles, through food, through the spark of joy bouncing off their eyes and above all through the gift of time. As kids we were secure in the feeling of their eternal love.
And that’s why “𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨” resonates so much. Just like me, the little girl is secure in the feeling that love does not always have to be expressed with words. Love can be found in taste and touch, in care and in prayers.
Choiceful words and detailed illustrations would make this a ‘mirror’ for some of your class kids and a ‘window’ to the others. If you are an Asian parent, perhaps this will help your child in understanding their grandparents better. I loved, loved, loved this book!
